New for 2019 – Knitting Workshops with Deborah Judd at The Slipper Studio

There has been a resurgence of interest in many crafts in recent years, non more so than knitting.

We are fortunate that experienced knitter and textiles teacher Deborah Judd, will be delivering a series of workshops in 2019. In the first instance, workshops will encourage the complete beginner or rusty knitters to develop confidence with basic knitting skills, before moving onto workshops requiring a wider range of skills and experience.

 

Knitting for Beginners & Rusty Knitters – Make a pair of Wrist Warmers or a Cup/Mug Holder.

Imagine a cosy day knitting with natural yarns, learning the all so important basic techniques of knitting. During the day you will learn how to: – cast on – knit Garter Stitch – knit a Purl Stitch, enabling you to produce Stocking Stitch – cast off – sew your project together.

Sunday 15th September, 10 – 4pm, £65, including: knitting needles, a choice of coloured yarn (100% wool DROPS KARISMA) and a pattern, plus refreshments; please bring your lunch.

Learn how to knit a Slipper Sock.

Extend your knitting skills and learn how to knit in the round using circular needles. You will make a mini Slipper Sock and leave with the skills to continue to make full size versions. During the workshop you will learn how to: – cast on using the Long Tail method – knit Garter Stitch – join your knitting to knit in the round using the Magic Loop technique on circular needles – decrease – complete your Slipper Sock by weaving the toe together.

Sunday 6th October, 10 – 4pm, £65, including: a choice of coloured yarn (100% wool DROPS KARISMA) to produce your mini Slipper project, patterns for the project, including a pattern for a full size version, plus refreshments; please bring your lunch. Please bring along a 4mm 60cm circular needle or purchase at the workshop for £5.

Learn how to knit a Top Down Sock

Come along and knit a sock by creating a Top Down mini sock. This will enable you to knit a range of sock patterns. You will need to have some basic knitting skills including: – casting on – knitting Stocking Stitch – knitting Rib Stitch – decreasing. This will be demonstrated on the day. Please bring a 4mm 60cm circular needle or purchase at the workshop for £5.

During the workshop you will learn how to: – cast on using the Long Tail Cast technique – join your knitting to knit in the round, using the Magic Loop technique on circular needles – knit a heel, gusset, foot, toe – graft the toe stitches together using the Kitchener Stitch.

Sunday 3rd November, 10 – 4pm, £65, including: a choice of coloured yarn (100% wool DROPS KARISMA), a pattern for the project, including a pattern for the full size version, plus refreshments; please bring your lunch.
