Wild and domestic birds have such personalities and characteristics and are a lovely thing to capture.

Join me at The Slipper Studio and you will be guided through a number of stages, enabling you to create a range of small scale wire sculptures. Your initial ideas will be sketched and then developed using vintage paper and fine, flexible wire.

This workshop will suit both the creative beginner and those looking to expand their creative experience.

Experimental Printmaking inspired by Mid Century Design

Taking our inspiration from Mid Century Design and the work of contemporary printmakers such as Jenni Douglas and Jane Ormes, we will explore abstract pattern through mark making, drawing and collage. Composition will be developed by creating experimental print blocks and stamps, before we refine our ideas and experiences to develop a series of lino cuts. You will also take home your stamps and lino block to continue working with.

This one day workshop is suitable for folks new to printmaking or those with some printmaking experience, who are looking to try something of a more experimental and abstract nature.

Saturday 12th February, 10 – 4pm, with just 3 places (to allow for social distancing), £79, including: tuition, all materials, use of equipment, plus refreshments throughout the day; just bring your lunch.

Lino Cutting for Beginners & Rusty Printmakers

Lino cutting and printing is a very enjoyable process that can be explored at our kitchen tables and requires the minimum of specialist equipment. Many of us may remember creating our first lino cut during our Art lessons at secondary school. If you are looking to learn a new creative skill, but need a process that can be “picked up and put down” and fitted around a busy life, this may well be the technique you have been looking for.

Working from your chosen images or a range of ideas available on the day, this one day workshop will introduce you to one colour lino cutting and printing. This is the perfect introduction to this addictive print process, with a particular focus on how you may continue developing your skills in your own home. However, if you have previous experience of lino cutting, but would benefit from a few prompts and reminders, it’s likely that you would be able to progress quicker and develop a two colour lino print.

We will cover developing ideas into designs, safe cutting techniques and hand printing. Single colour prints can also be developed by printing with a range of coloured inks, plus printing onto coloured backgrounds and exploring collage techniques.

Wednesday 2nd February, 10 – 4pm, with just 3 places (to allow for social distancing), £79, including: tuition, all materials, use of equipment, plus refreshments throughout the day; just bring lunch.
